PRESEASON TRADES THRU AUCTION DRAFT HIT $202 SALARY CAP

PRIOR TO THE COMPLETION OF THE AUCTION DRAFT, ALL TRADES & TRANSACTIONS HIT THE $202 SALARY CAP. POST-AUCTION DRAFT, ALL TRANSACTIONS HIT THE $100 FAAB (FREE AGENT ACQUISITION BUDGET).

CAP HITS DURING THE SEASON HIT $100 FAAB

NYOFACE Football increased the Salary Cap from $100 to $200 as the league started anew in July 2017, and we switched from Sportsline to Yahoo Fantasy.  This year, we increased the Salary Cap from $200 to $202 to accommodate the two draft rounds in the Rookie Draft.

• All transactions (trades, signings, cuts) through the completion of the Auction Draft hit the salary cap of $202.
• The $202 can only be used through the Auction Draft.  Any cap money you fail to spend during the Auction Draft does not carryover into the season.  
• Once the Auction Draft is done (August 12), our league Offseason/Preseason is complete.  All subsequent transactions hit the cap used during the season, the Free Agent Acquisition Budget (FAAB) of $100.

SALARY CAP HIT EXAMPLES

Here are examples of cap hits with one year remaining on a player's (Def) contract and with two years remaining.  Aren't you glad you no longer have to maintain a team spreadsheet and upload per transaction?!

1. Trade: DEREK CARR, $36 x 1yr left for AMARI COOPER, $30 x 1 yr left.  This is before Ron acquired Carr.  With player salaries almost matching and with 1 year left on both contracts, this is the simplest.
1. J.F. absorbs $18 in his cap for CARR - 50% of $36; frees up $18;
2. J.F. absorbs $15 in his cap for COOPER - 50% of $30; 
3. MANNY absorbs $15 in his cap for COOPER - 50% of $30; frees up $15;
4. MANNY absorbs $18 in his cap for CARR - 50% of $36;
2. Trade: SAQUON BARLEY $1 x 4yrs, for EZEKIEL ELLIOTT $51 x 1yr, DEREK CARR $36 x 1yr, JOSH ROSEN $1 x 4yrs.
• This was my last offer to FIDEL.  I had to throw in Ezekiel Elliott just to see if he would budge; he didn't.  You savvy NYOFACE owners would have caught on that this trade is illegal.  With a salary of $51 (greater than or equal to $40), Ezekiel can NOT be traded nor cut.
3. Trade: JACKSONVILLE DEFENSE $20 x 2yrs for DEREK CARR after Ron acquired the qb.
1. MANNY absorbs $20, 50% x $20 x 2, for Jacksonville DEF; frees up $10;
2. MANNY absorbs ZERO for Carr; Carr's $36 for 2018 has already been paid thru J.F.'s and Ron's caps.
3. RON absorbs $10 this year and $10 next year for JAX.  If Ron franchise/transition tags JAX, it will be off $20 however.
4. RON absorbs ZERO for Carr since his $36 has been accounted for previously.  Ron should be able to find willing trading partners for a top QB with zero cost!
